About Us

Our Why…

Our journey began with love, but like many couples, we quickly learned that love alone doesn’t teach you how to blend a family.

After dating for a while, we decided to make our relationship official and bring our families together. With seven children between us, we entered blended-family life with good intentions—but we also made mistakes along the way.

Over time, those experiences taught us what works, what doesn’t, and how important communication, patience, boundaries, and understanding are when two families become one.

We realized that if our experiences could help another couple avoid some of the mistakes we made, then our lessons had a greater purpose.

That became part of our why.

Today, we use our personal journey, professional experience, and the lessons we have learned through marriage, parenting, military life, grief, loss, and raising a blended family to create honest conversations and practical tools for other families.

We don’t share our story because we did everything right. We share it because we learned—and we believe what we learned can help someone else.

Real People. Real Conversations. Stronger Families.

Troy Brooks

  • U.S. Navy Retiree
  • Veteran Family Advocate
  •  Speaker
  •  Blended & Brave Co-Host

Troy Brooks is a 20-year U.S. Navy retiree, husband, father, speaker, and veteran family advocate who brings a powerful and relatable male perspective to conversations about family, marriage, grief, and resilience.

Military service taught Troy about leadership, sacrifice, transition, and perseverance. Life after service taught him that some of the hardest battles can happen within our own families. As a husband in a blended family and a father who has experienced the devastating loss of a son , Troy speaks from a place of experience—not theory.

With honesty, humor, and practical wisdom, Troy encourages men, couples, veterans, and families to communicate more openly, stay connected through difficult seasons, and understand that strength also means being willing to talk about what hurts.

His message reminds audiences that you can experience loss, transition, and change without losing your connection to the people you love.
